A computer system has many parts. The CPU box has a DVD drive. It may have a CD drive also.

Computer Drives and Storage

Here are some of the components you might find:

  • CD drive
  • CD-ROM
  • CPU box
  • DVD drive
  • DVD-ROM

The work, which we do on the computer, could be stored in either a CD-ROM or a DVD-ROM.

💡 Good to Know CD-ROM stands for Compact Disc-Read Only Memory.

💾 Hard Disc

This is a Hard Disc.

  • 📌 The Hard Disc is placed inside the CPU box.
  • 💡 It stores data and information.

🖨️ Printer

This is a Printer.

  • 📄 A printer prints the work displayed on the computer screen, onto a sheet of paper.
  • 🖼️ It can also print different pictures and text displayed on the computer screen.

SCANNER

This is a Scanner.

  • 📸 The pictures and text can be scanned and saved inside the hard disc using a scanner.

🎮 JOYSTICK

This is a Joystick.

  • A joystick controls the movement and direction of any object on the screen.
  • It can be used for playing games on the computer screen.

🎤 MICROPHONE

This is a Microphone.

  • A microphone is used for recording voice, music, and sounds into the computer.

🎧 SPEAKERS AND HEADPHONES

These are Speakers and Headphones.

  • The speakers are used to listen to recorded songs, voice, speech, and sounds stored in a computer.
  • The headphones are used to enjoy music without disturbing others.

🔋 UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply)

This is a UPS.

  • 💡 The UPS stands for Uninterrupted Power Supply.
  • ⚡ It has a battery for storing electrical power.
  • 🕒 This electrical power keeps a computer ON for at least 15 to 30 minutes even after the electricity goes OFF.

📡 MODEM

This is a Modem.

📌 Good to Know Internet can be accessed using Wireless Data Card.

The Modem is used for getting connected with the Internet.

📸 WEB CAMERA

This is a Web Camera.

We can see our friends online by using the Web Camera.

💾 PEN DRIVE

This is a Pen Drive.

  • The Pen Drive is a storage device.
  • It is easy to carry a pen drive than a floppy. It has larger storage capacity than a floppy.

🔌 WIRES AND CABLES

These are Wires and Cables.

  • There are various kinds of wires and cables.
  • These are used for supplying electrical power to a computer.
  • Different parts of the computer can be connected with each other using wires and cables.
