🧩 Introduction

The computer is a collection of different parts. These parts work together to perform various tasks.

The four basic parts of the computer are:

  • The Keyboard
  • The Monitor
  • The Mouse
  • The CPU

All these four basic parts together make up a Computer System.

This is a Monitor.

  • 💡 A monitor looks like a television screen.
  • ⌨️ Any task performed using the keyboard or the mouse is displayed on the monitor.
  • 🎬 We can enjoy watching movies on the monitor.

🧐 Computer Manners

⚠️ To prevent overheating, we should never cover the fan openings of the CPU box. Similarly, never cover the air openings of the monitor.


⌨️ KEYBOARD

This is a keyboard.

  • The keyboard is made up of many small buttons called Keys.
  • There are different keys for numbers, alphabets, symbols and signs.
  • Some keys are used as shortcut keys.
  • Using these keys we can type numbers and letters, and give input to the computer.
  • Besides giving input, the keyboard is also used to increase or decrease the level of sound.

📌 Any data or instruction you feed to a computer system is called Input.

🖱️ MOUSE

This is a Mouse.

  • A mouse is used to input the data. It has either two or three buttons.

  • A mouse is a pointing device. It moves the pointers on the computer screen.
  • We can enjoy playing games by using a mouse.
  • We can draw and colour pictures by using a mouse.
  • Using a mouse, we can select various options on the monitor.
  • We can also select and open any folder or file on the monitor with the help of a mouse.

🧠 The CPU (Central Processing Unit)

This is a CPU.

💡 CPU stands for Central Processing Unit.

  • It is known as the brain of a computer.
  • It helps the computer to perform different functions quickly and easily.

All the other parts of the computer are connected to the CPU through cables and wires. 🔌 The CPU is always placed inside a box. This box is known as the CPU box.
