Preposition-এর বাংলা অর্থ পদান্বয়ী অব্যয় অর্থাৎ যে পদ বাক্যের একটি পদের সাথে অন্য পদের সম্পর্ক বুঝিয়ে দেয় তাকে Preposition বলে।

In English, a Preposition is a word that shows the relationship between a noun or pronoun and other words in a sentence.

Preposition কোথায় কীভাবে বসে তা অনেকটা মনে রাখার ব্যাপার। তোমাদের জানার জন্য কয়েকটি সবসময় ব্যবহৃত Preposition দেওয়া হলো।

Where and how prepositions are used is largely a matter of remembering. For your knowledge, a few commonly used prepositions are given below.

📝 Examples of Preposition Usage:

• কোনোকিছুর দিকে, কাছে, নিকটে বোঝাতে to ব্যবহার করা হয়। To indicate 'towards something', 'near', or 'close', to is used.

• কোনোকিছুর দিকে তাকানো বোঝাতে at ব্যবহার করা হয়। To indicate 'looking towards something', at is used.

• কোনোকিছুর উপরে বসা, শোয়া, ঘুমানো ইত্যাদি বোঝাতে on বসে। To indicate 'sitting on', 'lying on', or 'sleeping on' something, on is used.

• কোনোকিছুর উপরে বোঝাতে above বসে। যেমন, The Sun is above my head. To indicate 'above' something, above is used. For example, The Sun is above my head.*

📝 Preposition Rules

• বাইরে থেকে ভিতরে বোঝাতে ➡️ into ব্যবহার করা হয়। (To indicate from outside to inside, into is used.)
• কোনোকিছুর দ্বারা বোঝাতে ⚙️ with ব্যবহার করা হয়। যেমন: I write with my pen. (To indicate by means of something, with is used.)
• বারের আগে 📅 on বসে। যেমন: on Sunday (রবিবারে)। (On is used before days.)
• মাস, বছরের আগে 🗓️ in বসে। (In is used before months, years.)
• সময়ের আগে 🕰️ at বসে। (At is used before time.)
• রাতে বোঝাতে 🌃 at বসে। যেমন: at night (রাত্রিতে)। (At is used to indicate night.)
